Why Photographer Input on Your Wedding Timeline Matters
One of my favorite parts of being a wedding photographer is helping my couples build their timeline. I know it might seem like a small detail, but it makes such a huge difference in the flow of your day. Photographers live in wedding days offen and we know exactly how long certain photos take, what needs a little extra breathing room, and how every couple and every wedding is completely different.
When I help with a timeline, I am not trying to take over the day. I am simply making sure you have enough time to actually enjoy it. There is nothing worse than feeling rushed in photos, especially when this is one of the most meaningful days of your life. I have seen enough timelines in my career to know that having someone who truly understands the wedding industry and the way photography works can save a lot of stress and a lot of “oh no we forgot that” moments.
Plus, I promise I bring the calmness and so do my second shooters. I love adding in little breaks so you can breathe, laugh, grab a snack, or sneak a moment alone. It is your wedding day after all, not a speed contest and it is your wedding day after all.
My Favorite Photo Times
Sunset hour is always the dream moment for couple photos. The light is soft, warm, and honestly just makes everyone look like they belong in a movie or what I call a wedding day dream. If your timeline allows even ten minutes around sunset, the photos are always worth it.
I am also forever in love with newlywed photos right after the ceremony. These give different lighting and photos where you both are glowing and smiling in a way that cannot be recreated. You just got married!!
You are excited!!! You are adorable and distracted and very much in your own world together. Those photos always end up being some of the most genuine of the whole day which is why they are one of my favorites if we can make that time allow in the timeline.
Why It All Matters
At the end of the day, your photos are what you will have to look back on. The food will be eaten and the music will fade and your flowers will eventually dry out, but your photos will be the thing that brings it all back to life. A thoughtful timeline helps make that possible.
My job is to capture your wedding in a way that feels true to you, beautiful for you, and stress free for both of us. Helping build your timeline is just one of the ways I make sure your day goes smoothly, the light works with us, and you walk away with photos you will love for years. - MLP
