Meet the Photographer
Hey, my name is Mercedes Lane
Hi loves!
Welcome to Mercedes Lane Photography. I am Mercedes, the girl behind the camera and the heart behind every photo you see here. Based in Northern California but always ready to travel, I absolutely love meeting new people, exploring new places, and documenting love stories all across the United States and beyond. My favorite time to photograph is during golden hour and blue hour when the light feels soft, romantic, and dreamy, but honestly I love any beautiful natural light moment whether it is warm sunshine, coastal fog, mountain shade, or cloudy skies.
Outside of photography, I am a dog mom to my two mini Goldendoodles, Cinder and Presley, who completely run my life in the best way possible. So please bring your fur babies to your session because they are always welcome here. One fun fact about me is that I am only 4 foot 11, and while people are sometimes surprised by how tiny I am, I promise height has never stopped me from capturing beautiful moments and creating art that feels emotional, timeless, and true to you.
My photography style is true to color with warm and natural tones, a mix of candid storytelling and gently guided posing, and images that feel genuine rather than overly staged. I love creating photographs that feel romantic, effortless, and full of movement and emotion. Every session and wedding naturally flows with the environment around us, which means my editing style adapts beautifully to the season, weather, and location while still staying true to the Mercedes Lane Photography experience. I also have a deep love for black and white imagery because sometimes emotion speaks loudest without color.
One of the most important things to me is creating a space where every couple and every family feels safe, welcomed, celebrated, and seen. All love stories deserve to be documented and honored. No matter your race, religion, sexual orientation, identity, or background, you are welcome here. Photography is so much more to me than taking pretty pictures. It is about preserving connection, emotion, movement, and the feeling of a moment you never want to forget. I want your images to feel like you.
I never want sessions to feel overly stiff, stressful, or intimidating. My goal is to make you feel comfortable, confident, and fully yourself in front of the camera. I know most people do not show up saying they are professional models, and that is completely okay. You do not have to know what to do because I will guide you every step of the way. Instead of forcing awkward poses, I use easy prompts and natural movement to create photos that feel authentic and effortless. Expect lots of laughter, cuddles, walking, kissing, and genuine connection. And if I have to make ridiculous noises to get your kids or dogs to smile, trust me, I absolutely will.
When it comes to weddings, my approach is a blend of documentary storytelling, editorial inspiration, and naturally guided moments plus the casual smile at the camera to hang on your parents wall. I capture the real emotions and candid in between memories while also helping create those timeless portraits you will treasure forever. I want your wedding gallery to feel emotional, elevated, joyful, and completely true to your story.
I truly cannot wait to meet you, celebrate your story, and create something beautiful together.

With Mercedes Lane Photography: "Northern California’s Shasta County is putting on a rare show of fall color, with vibrant red, orange, and yellow leaves surrounding Burney Falls, Lake Britton, and Baum Lake. Photographer Mercedes Lane says the best viewing is from mid-October to mid-November, when the forests near Burney burst into full color. Visitors can explore the newly renovated trail at Burney Falls, enjoy mirror-like reflections at Lake Britton, and spot wildlife around Baum Lake. The area, sacred to the Pit River Tribe, offers a unique and respectful way to experience autumn in Northern California."
